never a nole... oct 29

That moment when you see all your fellow POC alumni of Florida State University who are all about "anti-racism" in every other space they find themselves throughout their lives, but during football season, anti racism is apparently put on stand by. Folks, I hope it feels good to be repping your garnet and gold and them t-shirts with the "Seminole" circle logo, yeah the same style image used when scalping Native folks for a bounty was legal. Do you all really still do the "tomahawk chop" or refer to yourselves as "´Noles"? I really hope I don´t see any of you painting your faces red or wearing wigs and fake headdresses. Seriously. I know the arguments.... "its all in fun" , "harmless", or the Seminoles (Tribe of Fl Inc) said it was okay back in 2005. I´ve heard them all, along with the insults, spits and threats at the foot ball games protesting with AIM or the answering machine of the American Indian Student Union. Are Native students still .04% of the student body at FSU? Are there still no Native faculty or studies program at FSU? No Native Languages taught? Oh yes, how could I forget, but the mascot is to HONOR the Seminole people. Funny, how the saying is "The Unconquered" it really should be ‪#‎divideandconquer‬. All I can say is that in my five years in Tallahassee I only met two Seminole students, one from Oklahoma and one from Immokalee. The rest of you???... i really don´t know WTF you all think you are, but anti-racist isn´t it. ‪#‎notyourmascot‬ ‪#‎aisualumni‬ ‪#‎decolonize‬ ‪#‎floridastateuniversity‬ ‪#‎fsu‬ ‪#‎fsuaisu‬

Quiero saludar a Sakura, Darius y a Ryan, y enviarles mucho amor, aprecio y agradecimiento. :*

closing cycles... oct 28.... pacfici coast turtle island.... occupied Tongva teritory...

In early October I started a journey/tour motivated, approved and encouraged by the people of my community of La Jagua, Huila, as well as the entire Ríos Vivos Movement, the organized social movement of the communities impacted by dams in Colombia. Fortunately, the Beehive Collective here in the north also backed this initiative.

This journey is divided in three regions, and the first region is on the verge of finishing. In a little under 8 weeks, rarely more than 24-40 hours in the same place, sharing in over 50 different spaces and places along the Pacific coast of Turtle Island and nearby interior territories.

A major part of this journey has been to create awareness about my peoples and other peoples struggles for land and liberation against a variety of industries that all result in the destruction of land, water, air and life. Mostly in Colombia, but not entirely. A deep and fulfilling part of this has been to meet, connect and share with communities and peoples in the same processes in Turtle Island. To create and weave new relations.
I am confident to say we have been successful in that regards. This is thanks to the amazing support from everyone who helped to make this reality; the Beehive Design Collective, the territories themselves that allowed us to visit and especially everyone who helped with; opening their homes, organizing events, coordinating activities, helping us with our routes and all the logistical details in general.

This experience has really been a Minga - Yanama - Konbit - Tequio. We, I, All of us are so very grateful and I hope to be able to receive all of you at some point in my home turf in Abya Yala, South America.
There are too many people to list that have made this journey so incredible, pivotal and transformative, so as to not leave anyone out I am not really gonna list anyone that I connected with, but you know who you are ;). Who I will mention are my fellow bees who joined me during portions of the journey, helping make this journey a reality and relied on them greatly for many aspects of this journey. Big shout out toSakura, Darius & Ryan reminding you all how much I love you, appreciate you and am thankful ;).

I am hoping to return to this route sooner than later, bring homies from down south, and to continue on walking, weaving, building and resisting with you all. I repeat... wanna host folks down there ;)

As we near the conclusion of the Pacific Coast region, the journey in the occupied Seminole, Miccosukee and Creek territory known as Florida starts next weekend in the Panhandle!!!

Once again, till we meet again and...thanks, gracias, brigado, pai, watta paali..
